Dinner Plans

Dinner is a must for your 2nd wedding anniversary celebration. While not the most original idea on the planet, going out for a romantic dinner is almost mandatory for celebrating your anniversary. A nice, romantic dinner can be tailored to any budget, the key is not how expensive the meal is, but how romantic the environment is where you are spend your evening together. Choose a restaurant that is memorable for you and your spouse (perhaps where you went on your first date (or second!), make sure you are able to reserve a good table, and ask the restaurant if they can bring out a surprise dessert at the end of the meal.

We just celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary and enjoyed ourselves immensely. We had a baby sitter for the kids, dressed up, and went to a local restaurant that for us symbolizes the best that our town has to offer. It’s a restaurant we go to maybe once or twice a year, but it was the first time we went for our anniversary to this place. The food was great, we were relaxed, and enjoyed spending the time together. With 2 kids (very young still), just getting dressed up and spending relaxed time together felt great. The point is that we all exist on a sliding scale, what may seem great to some, could be the epitome of boring to another.

At your 2nd Wedding Anniversary, things are still relatively new and hopefully passionate/romantic. Go to the effort of making the day special. You may not always have the opportunity later on!

Here are some ideas for a special 2nd anniversary celebration:

1. Order from your favorite restaurant and eat picnic style at a romantic location (Not a great idea in the winter.)
2. Plan a weekend getaway to a romantic cabin/hotel where you can order room service and spend some time together.
3. Go out for a romantic lunch followed by a shopping trip to buy a set of china for your household (not an inexpensive idea….)
4. Go out for a romantic lunch followed by a shopping trip to buy a set of cotton bedding, table set or hammock.
5. Cook your favorite meal at home, present your spouse with candle light, flowers wine and cotton/china gifts.
